I recently had a wonderful Nissan Murano SUV for a week-long test drive. The Nissan Murano is a clean-looking, and functional SUV. The Murano is a mid-sized, family-oriented SUV that is attractive, versatile, and well-equipped.

The Murano was redesigned for 2009 and the 2010 model hasn’t been changed very much. The instrument panel has been rearranged and some of the gauges and interior are slightly more upscale. Some people like the exterior looks while others are somewhat critical. The fenders arch upwards and slightly out over the wheels. This is not unlike several other SUV’s, but I like the looks and think that it gives a strong, bold appearance.

While it is important to regularly clean and maintain your car to keep it free from harmful dirt and contaminants, the underside of a car is often overlooked and left neglected. It is important however to also clean the underside of your car to ensure that harmful dirt and contaminants are not left to accumulate and so that the large variety of components are able to operate properly. It is especially important to try and keep the underside of your car clean if it is used off road at all, or if it is used in areas where it is subject to an excess of road grime or surface salts during winter months for example.

The underside is easily overlooked during cleaning because of the accessibility of it but there are a number of things you can do to help and now there are even products available to allow you to easily access the underside of your car. Your car can be jacked up, placed on axle stands and even the wheels removed to provide much greater access to the underside, arches and suspension components. Your car does not have to be raised however as there are under body lances available that connect to you your pressure washer or hose pipe and simply slide underneath the car. You can of course simply just get down and reach under your vehicle with a pressure washer lance or powerful hosepipe attachment.

If you are selling your car there are a number of things you can do that will vastly increase the chances of it selling for a good price. Most people will give their car a quick clean before selling but if you spend a little extra time paying attention to areas that are usually left neglected, then potential buyers are more likely to see your car as the more desirable purchase.

1. Ensure your wheel arches are thoroughly cleaned using a degreaser or an all purpose cleaner, suitable brushes and an old wash mitt. They can then be dressed to help rejuvenate the plastic liners. Clean arches really help to give the impression of a well looked after car.

Sometimes we just want a change. If you have a car and you are unsure whether or not it is the right time to sell consider the following things. The decision of why you are interested in selling a car can be made depending on a variety of factors. Maybe you just want a change. In order to make this change you will need to go about selling a car first. Maybe the upkeep on your current car is too much and you want something easier to maintain. You could also be thinking of selling a car to make a bit of extra money. Having a valid reason to think about selling a car is generally the first step in determining whether or not it is the right thing to do.

If your car is starting to get a bit old and is falling apart at the seams then now is the time to sell it. In the long run it might be economically feasible to get rid of it and purchase a new one. The cost of constant maintenance and if the car is running poorly and is chewing through more fuel than it should be then these costs can far outweigh that of purchasing a new car. It can also become unsafe for you or your family to continue driving it. Continue reading ‘A Short List of Reasons to Consider Selling a Car’ »

Volkswagen has finally broken into the UTE market, and workmen, tradies and devoted pick-up drivers are eagerly anticipating the release of the VW Amarok in Australia later this year.

The first one-tonne class pick-up to be developed in Germany, the Amarok is set to be a leader in the UTE trade on interior space and comfort, fuel efficiency and safety features. Add in the refinement expected from a Volkswagen vehicle and the Amarok is likely to give other Australian workhorse UTEs a run for their money.

Volkswagen Amarok – What can drivers expect?

Layout – The Volkswagen Amarok will initially be launched in a four door double-cab layout, with a single cab design to follow. The interior space is expected to outclass other UTEs, with full seating for five people, spacious headroom and leather upholstery.

If you are looking for a cheap way to commute and get into work or school then it is hard to beat a small motorbike or scooter. Small bikes such as a 125cc scooter or 50cc moped do not cost very much to buy. They are cheap to insure and they use very little gasoline. Even better is that they are easy to park because they do not take up very much space. Often you can just squeeze them in to a small spot near home or in the city.

There are, however, a couple of things that you should keep in mind when considering using a scooter for your daily travelling.

The first thing you have to keep in mind is that motorcycles and mopeds do not provide nearly the same level of safety as cars do. This is for several obvious reasons. One is that you are only riding on two wheels instead of four. While it is very difficult to get a car to roll over, falling off a motorcycle is unfortunately rather easy to do if you hit a slippery patch of road while taking a corner.
