One of the signs of cool new cars is their upwardly opening doors. This article will look at three great sports cars whose signature style is the upwardly opening door.

The Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster is the ultimate exotic car. You can have the top down on a warm summer day. Batman used the Murcielago Roadster his latest movie. It has a 6.2 L V12 engine with all wheel drive and 580 horsepower. It has upward opening doors. Many boys dream of having a Lamborghini and put posters of the cars on their walls. This newest version from Lambo is the best yet. Everywhere you go people will want to take pictures of themselves with your Lamborghini. This is the ultimate in cool new cars.

The Ferrari Enzo is the fastest street legal car ever made. At more than $1 million, it is not your “average” car; but if you can afford it, who wants average? This Ferrari is striking in person, has unique doors that hinge upwards and attracts attention from miles away. It has a 651 horsepower V12 mid mounted engine (the engine is just behind the driver’s seat), and world class handling.

With a 627 horsepower mid mounted engine and a top speed of over 240 mph the V12 McLaren F1 is an extremely fast and very light. It’s race car like exotic. The F1 is mostly made of Carbon Fiber to reduce weight. No expense was spared making the F1, costly carbon fiber, and exotic materials were used everywhere. Because it is such a good heat deflecting material, gold was used on the engine compartment lid. This car looks amazing in pictures and people are going to want to snap pics of themselves with your car. The driver sits in the middle of the car, for the best driving experience possible with 2 jump seats to the right and left behind the driver.

Those are 3 of the cool new cars you can consider if you have a goodly amount of cash on your hands and want to drive a stylin’ car.

If you are ready to negotiate like a pro and find the coolest new car for you, I suggest you head on over to Edmunds.com to get multiple quotes from local car dealers for the best prices available.

There is a wide variety of body kits available today. Some are excellent while others are poor. Some cheap kits really spoil the look of a lovely car.

However this is not true for all cheap body kits. Few leading brands produce excellent kits at excellent prices. Find out what you are buying and take a considerate decision. You can purchase an unfamiliar brand body-kit, which can enhance the appearance of your car after installation and painting. But will it be able to retain the same look after a year? Some leading brands to watch out for include Extreme Dimensions, Wings West, AIT Racing and Mimo USA. Other brands such as Buddy Club and Veilside design are awesome yet expensive ones.

Choosing between the alternative to pay more for a more durable body-kit should depend on how you intend to use the car. It is not a major issue if it is a short term solution. But for a long term beautiful look, you should think about investing in a costlier body kit. Normally the material used in production increases the quality of the body-kits, thus making them costlier. There are numerous types of fiberglass from inferior quality to superior quality. So remember all fiberglass Body kits are not created equal. Urethane kits are costlier because of their higher durability.

So ensure you consider what you expect from your body-kit prior to selecting one, instead of ruing it later on. Buy the best ones at a low price. Start right away!

Like humans, almost all mannerism of contraptions that have a motor require air to function. Vacuum cleaners to hair dryers to lawn mowers and yes; cars, all require the intake of air to work properly.

In cars, air is required in the combustion chamber where fuel is burned to produce power. If you didn’t pay attention in basic science class, air is needed to keep a fire burning. Same concept here. To put things bluntly; more air = better combustion = better acceleration.

There are only two types of air filters available in the market: an open pod or a drop in.

Choosing which one suits you best

Open pods are generally larger in size and requires the removal of your whole standard air intake unit. They have the best performance when it comes to air intake, but lacks in filtration capabilities.

Drop in filters on the other hand provide ‘plug and play’ bliss for beginners, as you can simply swap your OEM air filter for these things. No modifications necessary. Air intake is generally better than standard OEM air filters, but again, filtration is not as good.

Deciding on which to get for your car is simple. It all depends on the type of transmission your car uses. An automatic car will benefit from a drop in filter, but will have little or no improvements if fitted with an open pod; the reason being open pods require a rev above 3,000 rpm to be able to perform optimally, and automatic cars generally change gears before the 3,000 rpm mark.

Manual transmission cars however can benefit from both open pod and drop in filters, as the engine revs easier and the driver can decide when to change gears. Life just isn’t fair.

There are several well known brands out there that are synonymous with aftermarket air filters. Brands such as K&N and HKS are probably the best car air filters money can buy.

Increasing the air intake of your car

There are also different ways to do this. Mind you, it may not be the prettiest of ways. It’s called Cold Air Intake (CAI) hoses.

Here’s another theory: cold air is heavier than hot air, so theoretically in the atmosphere, cold air should be located closer to the ground. With this in mind, imagine if you place your air intake hose (hose that directs air into the air filter unit) at the front of the car, and at a low position, cold, or in the case of South East Asia, air that is not so warm, can get into the combustion chamber and help the combustion even more, thus allowing better acceleration.

This however requires one to drill a hole in the middle of one’s bumper. I have seen some pretty well done CAI, but for the most of it, it will look like your car just had a molar removed.

Before getting all excited and deciding to buy a new air filter for your car, take note that aftermarket filters do allow your car to breathe better, but at the cost of less filtration. This does not mean that fitting an aftermarket air filter will damage your engine in the long run. All it means is that your car’s standard OEM air filter is able to filter tinier dust particles, at the cost of allowing less air through. Aftermarket air filters however are washable, making it a lifetime investment for your car, unless you decide to keep changing filters to test the difference that is.

A simple test to see how dirty your air filter is and also to determine its filtration capabilities is to simply put it up against a source of light. A clean filter would allow one to see light poking through the ‘pores’ of the filter whereas a dirty filter would block out the light entirely. Air filters with good filtration capabilities usually get dirty faster, meaning that it’s doing a good job at filtration, whilst a filter with less filtration capabilities would stay cleaner longer.

As both a fan of video games and cars in general, the release of the Forza Motorsport 3 game was quite exciting for me. For those not in the know, it is basically a video game where you can choose from a huge range of cars and tune and modify it until it is a supercar. I enjoyed playing the game to such an extent that I have recently decided to do it for real.

First things first, I had to find a suitable base car with which to modify. After much searching around, I decided that a cost effective starting point would be an R Reg Used Mercedes Benz. True, the car itself had seen better days, but this was merely going to be the canvas to work from.

The first job was to add Recaro racing seats, a roll cage and to move all the unnecessary electrics. Trust me, I wasn’t too sad to see the ancient Cassette / Radio Player be flung into the skip. The harder part was next; adding the right engine and mod parts to make my battered Merc into a racer. I am no engineer, so I had careful tutelage from an engineering friend. I fitted a nitro turbo and added lowered racing suspension.

The final addition was the body, which due to economic constrains would have to remain largely similar to how I found it. I added some racing decals and polished it up, but it is still recognisable. I now plan to enter my Used Mercedes Benz in some concourse competitions.

Today many people are looking to personalize their car and using a body kit is the best method to do so. But for this, you need to consider various things. These include the kind you desire, quality and materials used in creating the kit.

There are 3 kinds of body kits: lip, bumper replacement and wide body. All of them are equally effective and give your car a great look. But you have to decide your preference and then take a look at numerous models. Another point to consider is its size. Your body kit must easily fit on your car. A lip kit is the simplest amongst these kits to install and uninstall. So if you are interested in maintaining the same condition, then this kit is right for you. The replacement bumper kit has a totally different fitting from lip kit. It is also harder to install it. You might not be able to install it without damaging the car in some way. The wide one lies between both of the others, but is the costliest of the lot.

Material is another point you should consider while selecting body kit. Usually they use either fiberglass or urethane. Some kits use the mixture of both of them and are known as poly-fiber. Today most of the body kits use urethane instead of fibreglass although both are available in stores. Urethane is much more flexible and simpler to install. The fiberglass is quicker to mend than urethane, but is easily breakable. So you hae to decide the most appropriate one for you.

Finally, when shopping for a body-kit, you must take into account its quality. Don’t buy a kit that fragments easily, once you go over the obstacle. Check for the durability of the product. The best method of doing this is to read feedback products online. Find out what others have to say about the various Body kits. Always select the kit that should fit the car before meeting your taste. Don’t purchase something only because of rave reviews as you might not like it. Just use reviews to judge the product performance.

Many car owners want their car to stand out from others. Here body kits do lay an important role. If you have never heard about body kits before, here is a low down on them before you go out and purchase one.

A body kit is the greatest and cheapest method of doing a total external alteration of a car. These kits normally consist of a front bumper, 2 side skirts, and a rear bumper. Every part of the kit is planned to compliment the other parts and work together as a unit to give a customized appearance to the car. Many car owners find it thrilling and exhilarating to mix and match these bumpers and side skirts instead of just selecting one entire set (like a full Bomex body-kit)

A body-kit can give a highly visible or less obvious alteration to the look and feel of your car, based on your taste. Getting a body-kit is an excellent way for you to enjoy some snappy effects extrapolated on your car. Your car is also designed according to your individual taste. With infinite designs and types of body kits for each make and model of car, changing the look of your car is a breeze.

After you start looking at Body kits, you’ll find numerous accessories alter the standard look of your car to something more appropriate to your taste. Purchasing body-kits online will save you plenty of money, although you might have to go to your neighborhood garage to get it installed properly. Many body-kits can be installed by themselves, but in lots of instances can be hard for you to do so. Usually there are lot of particular methods for installation of the bumpers and side skirts. It can lead to problems if you try DIY, particularly for the first time. Hence it is advisable to hire an expert to get perfect look.

Now a days, painting chrome is being used as a ride pimper and it has, and is gaining popularity, There has been some innovation in painting chrome as until recently the only way to get that famous shine which is specific to chrome paints was to chrome plate the vehicle. If you are new to chrome paint, it would simply be defined as the paint applied to get a shiny and mirror like finish. I would like to be frank here and I have to confess that personally I am not fond of painting chrome over the car. As I feel that the chromed car seems to be bedazzled extra ordinarily and it seems to appear that whole car has been wrapped in an aluminum foil. Any way this is only my opinion and majority of the car enthusiasts seems to enjoy and adore a chrome car so I would be rather commercial here and will tell you some tips for custom chrome paint as well as chrome paint trim. The biggest advantage of chrome car paint is that it provides with perfect base coat and any other art work can be applied by painting over chrome and the chrome paint acts as a high light thus really pimping the car.

Custom chrome car paint is best used in motor sports car when the car needs some advertisement painted all over it. So the chrome is used as a base paint to give prominence to over all advertisement painting. Typical process of applying car chrome paints is that first a dark base coat is used as a primer then a chrome spray paint is sprayed over it. However the base coat is not completely covered. Finally a clear coat is applied. Usually a tint or pigment is added to to give chrome a color since chromes are originally shiny, silver finishing. The appropriate blend of chrome and paint is necessary as applying too thin coat of chrome spray paint will give a dull metallic look which obviously kills the purpose of applying a chrome to your car.

As the appropriate blend of chrome and paint is necessary, so is the drying and application time. As I said that make sure the primer coating or base coat is not fully covered. The reason for this is because it is necessary for the chrome to shine as the shine heavily depends on the contrast between chrome and paint and messing with this crucial balance will simply ruin your all the hard works. Following are the steps you should follow in order to do some custom chrome paint. Adhering to them strictly will simply pimp your ride.

Step 1

Prepare the surface where you are going to apply some chrome spray paint or simply chrome paint. Any bumps on the surface, the chrome will definitely show some imperfections.

Step 2

The second important step is to apply appropriate base coat. Appropriate here means that the base coat should be dark enough so that it provides with the right contrast as a result of which the shine is going to enhance of the chrome paint.

Step 3

As more than one coats are going to be applied and drying and application times are crucial, it is advised to bake the car for time saving.

Step 4

Chrome spray paint should be applied on a very fine mist. Again give it a suitable time to get dry. Applying fine mist is only to be on a safe side. Since it would be difficult to deal with the over applied chrome paint, it is better to apply the coats slowly and with fine mist until the desired outcome or to be more precise, desired shine is achieved. Its a very special crucial step and requires due care. Any error and it would sabotage your whole work. It is for this reason that painting chrome is not regarded as DIY job and an experts assistance is reckoned.

Step 5

This involves applying the final clear coat. As I said that tint or pigment is added to give chrome a color. So you can add any one from these two so that finishing involves some colors. The shine and reflectiveness of the chrome paint is not going to be effected by adding these two materials. Now you are done and can add your favorite designs, logos or any image which ever you like.

Car lovers would like their car to be unique. For this, it is possible to alter it for looks, speed and sound. The same rule is applicable for new hybrid market, which has seen the entry of some body kits designed for hybrids such as Toyota Prius and Honda Civic. But how does it affect the greenness of the hybrid car? Does the gas mileage and competence improve after including a body kit?

The answer depends on the type of kit you are installing. Today, the kits sold are small, chic and just include delicate designing cues. As the market grow, there is a likelihood of increasing number of extreme styles, but as of now, the kit you add won’t impact the performance of your hybrids. These body kits alter the bumpers and side skirts of the car; they are normally not put over the original. So the weight of your hybrid car doesn’t increase.

Another point to take into account while adding Body kits to a hybrid car is its impact on aerodynamics. But since they are not very big, they won’t add substantial drag. But if you intend to include a big spoiler or mouth front bumper, the car can lose some gas mileage. Higher the drag of the car, harder the engine has to work. So adding very big body-kit parts can lower the gas mileage of the car.

While searching for a body-kit for your hybrid, just remember why you actually went for a hybrid. So don’t forget that any changes made to the car must not hamper its workings. But a simple yet elegant body-kit won’t affect gas mileage much.
