If you need a car but don’t want to go through the rigmarole of a car loan, then how about leasing? While the overall cost can be higher than purchasing a car, the down payment is lower. So if you want an option somewhere between renting and buying a car, these tips will help you to consider leasing a vehicle:
1. Search for the car that you want.
This process is similar to the search for a new car. It’s likely that you’ll be leasing the car for years, so you might as well like it. Consider factors such as the make, model, color, and features. Taking the time to determine the car you want to lease, will help to make the process much smoother. Continue reading ‘How to Lease a Car’ »

Sometimes you do run short of cash. Those are the situations when buying brand new tires seems too expensive! To deal with such situations, most people try hard to find used and cheap tires. Here are some tips to consider for finding cheap tires for sale. Actually these tips are for making sure that you don’t get ripped off by purchasing useless tires.
1. Probe those tires carefully
Try to find if there are tiny cracks. These cracks appear as tires dry up too much. Check the tires’ sidewalls and see if there is any scrapes or plugs from wherever it have gotten flat before. So when you’re out to buy used tires, do tell the seller to submerge those into water. Keep your eyes open for bubbles. Continue reading ‘How to Buy Cheap Tires’ »

When it comes to choosing yourself an Italian sports car, I wouldn’t blame if you immediately went straight to the nearest Ferrari dealership and demanded the keys to a spectacular Ferrari 599. Before you did that however, there would be many factors to consider. The three main ones as far as most people are concerned are practicality, cost and resale value. In this case, the Ferrari models tend to fall flat on their face. There is an alternative though, which would allow you to own an Italian sports car that can tick the box of all the Ferrari’s failings; the Maserati Quattroporte.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Maserati Quattroporte is the name. “Quattroporte” literally translates as 4 door, which is quite a rare commodity for a sports car to have. This is where the practical element of the car comes into play. Four doors and plenty of room in the back means that you can transport your family around, without having to sacrifice one iota of performance or driveability. As both a fan of video games and cars in general, the release of the Forza Motorsport 3 game was quite exciting for me. For those not in the know, it is basically a video game where you can choose from a huge range of cars and tune and modify it until it is a supercar. I enjoyed playing the game to such an extent that I have recently decided to do it for real.
First things first, I had to find a suitable base car with which to modify. After much searching around, I decided that a cost effective starting point would be an R Reg Used Mercedes Benz. True, the car itself had seen better days, but this was merely going to be the canvas to work from. Continue reading ‘Used Mercedes Benz – How a Video Game Inspired Me to Modify a Car’ »

Car racing enthusiasts go for models that can be easily designed. The design of their cars reflects their personalities. This is also a way to jazz up your car and make it totally your own so there is no mistaking your car from the others.
If you absolutely haven’t an inkling as to how to design your car and what design you actually want, let me give you some tips on how to do so:
Step 1: Search online for design inspirations. Go to Google.com and key in sports car designs and you can find some really cool concepts. Just use those designs as your guide to spark an idea from your mind. You can also try visiting showrooms and car shows where car sports enthusiasts gather to show off their cars.
Step 2: Print a sketch model of your car. Also search online for a top view, side view, read view and front view of your car model. If you are feeling a bit creative, you can manually draw the outlines of your car instead. But for those who are sketching challenged, there are a lot of pictures you can find online that you can print out. Continue reading ‘How to Design Your Own Sports Car’ »

There is nothing worse than having to get stuck driving in bad weather. A few weeks ago, I found myself out during rush hour driving in what I can only describe as a torrential downpour of rain. It was the kind of rain where the rain is coming down so hard that it actually looks as if it is raining from the ground up. Additionally, it was raining so hard that even on my fastest setting, my windshield wipers simply could not keep up with the downpour.
To top it off, the thing that makes driving in bad weather so incredibly hazardous and dangerous are other drivers. Too often, you’ll come across someone who doesn’t have their lights on because a) they don’t realize that when it is raining hard and/or you have your windshield wipers on, you are supposed to have your headlights on or b) They take the opportunity to start speeding or start following other people too closely.
When will people realize that, by law, you are supposed to turn your headlights on whenever you have your windshield wipers on? I was on the road as recently as last night, after the sun had already set (which means that you should already have your headlights on). However, I went to change lanes and quickly changed my mind because doing so would have meant that I would have either crashed into the person next to me or run them off the road. The problem? I didn’t see them. In fact, their black car blended perfectly into the night and the rain that was pouring down because they did not have their headlights on. I was furious. The only way that I managed to see them was because there was a slight glare coming off of the hood of their car when one of the passing lamp posts illuminated their vehicle for a brief second. There are a lot of horror stories online from people who have failed their driving tests miserably. If you read any of these, you will only make yourself nervous and intimidated. The best thing for you to do is focus all of your attention on studying and NOT on fear or nervousness. You also need to practice driving every single day – even if it’s just a few minutes. Go out with an adult and practice as much as you can.
Check out online resources. There are ebooks, how-to videos, tips, and even secrets available on the internet at your disposal. Even if you’ve already passed the written test, you still need to do a lot of reading. There are some practice-written tests you can take that can help prepare you for the road test as well. Learning all the rules and knowing what to do and when will help you feel more confident when you’re driving during the test.
Sometimes the examiners or other DMV employees will share details about the things they’ll be watching for during your test. Knowing exactly what you’ll be examined on ahead of time will make it easier for you to prepare. While it’s important to study and learn everything, knowing ahead of time what you’ll be tested on will give you a focus point. Studying and practicing will go more easily from there. Find a checklist online of the things you need to go over during your practicing and print it out. Everybody wants to pass their driver’s exam on the first attempt, but not everyone is able to. It doesn’t involve luck, either; whether you pass or not depends on how prepared you are and how much you learn beforehand. You need to pass both the written and road exams in order to get your license. The first is easier than the latter, so you need to study and practice extra hard in order to pass the road test.
So, how can you prepare yourself? The most obvious solution is to practice driving every single day. However, you can also learn some secrets, such as the things the examiner will be watching for. There are a lot of resources available on the internet filled with driving test secrets and tips that you’ll need to know in order to pass easily. Your DMV handbook that you have only offers some information. The test will require a lot more knowledge. Winter is here and where I live, in Finland, we have just had our first snow with many drivers navigating icy roads on plain summer tires. I was doing a 50 mile trip yesterday, mostly on small rural roads where the snow is not yet spoiled by salt and heavy traffic, and I thought to myself: It’s not really that dangerous or difficult to drive on slippery roads as long as you know what to do and when. You just have to adopt a different driving style and you’ll be as safe as on dry summer roads. The danger is when you apply a summer driving style to winter roads.
Rule #1: Slow Down
Don’t expect to reach the same speeds on a winter road as you do in the summer. Plan you trip to take longer and if you drive long hours in dark, limited visibility conditions up north plan some more stops to rest.
Rule #2: Be Soft on The Pedals
To keep your car on the road you need grip. When the tires have grip they roll at the speed you’re traveling and the car will go where you point the front wheels. When you break or accelerate too much the wheels will lock and lose grip. This turns your car into an object sliding in stead of rolling on the ice, you will have no control over it. It will go straight forward, or if the road is slanted it will slide off the road. Accelerate and break like you had an egg under the pedal, really softly, and you’ll have a lot more grip to play with. Continue reading ‘Driving During Winter – 7 Tips That Keeps You on the Road’ »

Now a days due to the growth of the Internet industry, it is easier to compare cars before deciding about buying one.
Earlier people used to depend on the recommendations of their friends and relatives for deciding about buying a car. The media industry was also not very developed earlier. The only television channel at that time Doordarshan did not broadcast any program on the auto industry. Newspapers also did not cover information or news about new automobile launches. There was no magazine about the auto industry then. There was no other source of information about new cars. Before 1990 even the auto industry was not well developed and there were few options in the market. This had resulted in no competition in the market. It was bad for automobile buyers as they did not have many choices for buying cars. Continue reading ‘How to Compare Cars’ »
