What Colorado Springs Automotive Service Consumers Should Know There are some things Denver consumers should know about Colorado Springs automotive service and repair. First and foremost, Express Auto Repair & Engine Exchange cares about you and your family’s safety. And we really appreciate your business. Express Auto Repair & Engine Exchange in Colorado Springs wants to build a trusting relationship that becomes the foundation for a mutually beneficial experience for years to come. Building on that foundation, there are some things that would help you understand the auto service and repair business better. First, it can be really hard to fix cars. The days of shade tree mechanics are long gone. The majority of automotive systems are computerized. It takes a lot of training and very expensive equipment to diagnose and repair modern vehicles. The technicians that work for Express Auto Repair & Engine Exchange need extensive computer training aE” not just how to run the diagnostic systems, but also searching for the right parts, networking with other technicians to help them with a difficult problem and pulling together a job order that makes sure that each step of the process is addressed. The threshold for getting started as a technician gets higher all the time and there is a huge commitment to on-going training every year. This training takes time and money. It contributes to business overhead.

The average Monument or Fountain driver may not realize the business and environmental regulations Express Auto Repair & Engine Exchange must comply with. Of course that costs money too. Like any business, overhead is a big factor. When you go into a Denver restaurant you don’t value the meal by what the food would cost at the grocery store. The restaurant has rent, wages, insurance, taxes, utilities, professional fees, equipment, supplies aE” you get the picture. The restaurant has to charge enough to not only pay for the ingredients, but for all these other things as well while making enough profit to remain in business. If you value the meal and are satisfied with your dining experience, you’ll come back and tell your friends. It’s the same for Express Auto Repair & Engine Exchange. The value of its service is not the cost of the parts they replace, but in your satisfaction with the results. If they deliver a good product at a fair price, Colorado Springs customers are happy to see them succeed as a Colorado automotive business. Contact Express Auto Repair & Engine Exchange to learn more about our extensive auto service training.

You can find us at: 3655 Galley Rd. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909 Or call us at 719-630-8729 Your Colorado Springs service center loves to see its customers whenever they come in, but they would much rather see them three or four times a year for routine maintenance than once a year on a tow truck. They want to work together with you to avoid breakdowns. Tell your Denver area friends and family to go in for their scheduled maintenance too. That lowers the service center’s marketing costs and helps keep its labor rates down. That’s good for everyone. Express Auto Repair & Engine Exchange appreciates this great review of automotive service from AutoNetTV.

You may know nothing about auto repairs but this does not mean that you can be easily scammed by mechanics and technicians who may only after your money. Even if you may not know what an alternator is, you can still be able to tell if you are given a fair estimate or not. Here are some tips on how to achieve this:

•	Find out what repairs should be made to your car. Let the mechanic do his own diagnosis of the problem.

• If some parts have to be replaced, then learn the cost of replacing these parts. If the parts needed are original equipment / parts made by the car manufacturer, then you have to make sure that you do not pay more than the manufacturer’s recommended price. Take note that you can save money by using used parts instead since they have a wider price range.

• Make sure that you understand what the mechanic plans to do to your car. If you only want a routine maintenance job, that is what you should get. You do not need to deal with tire rotation or oil changes when they are not necessary.

• When you get the bill make sure to check it out. Miscellaneous items may be used to cover the rags that have been used on your engine or fees for hazardous waste but they can also be used to add a few extra dollars to the total charge.

• If there is something in the bill that you do not understand – whether it is in small print or illegible hand writing or techno terms and services that you do not know existed – then ask questions and clear things up.

The best way to avoid being scammed or cheated out of your well earned money is to make sure that you are dealing with an honest and good mechanic. Ask your family or friends if they have any recommendations. And if you have an eligible candidate, do a background check by checking with the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints filed against this mechanic or auto repair shop.

Welcome to a briefly informative auto repair troubleshooting article. There is extreme consumption of time and money, if you are not ready for the auto repair shop. The vehicles of today are extremely complex, it takes training and skill to properly diagnose your vehicle. There are ways of educating yourself for the dreaded auto repair visit; therefore automotive diagnostic troubleshooting is essential information to obtain. Make sure the information you are receiving is credible. In this article I will examine general diagnostic troubleshooting and some procedures that follow.

Diagnostic trouble shooting for auto repair takes equipment, education and pure skill. Knowing a honest and reliable auto technician can be a great commodity. Having some general diagnostic knowledge will keep you from being ripped off and may help you to stay out of the repair shop. The Internet is rich with information and can help you in diagnosing your vehicle for repair, which will save you time and money. Remember this does not make you qualified for auto repair, but will help you to briefly understand what is involved.

Does the vehicle run? Many times I will diagnose a no start on a vehicle and it is something simple like a loose battery cable. Make sure you check all battery power & ground connections. Are the battery cable ends loose? Do they look corroded? A majority of the time you will find your no start condition is the battery connections or the battery itself.

Does the vehicle crank OK, but not start? When diagnosing a crank and no start, you will need some basic tools.

- Fuel Pressure gauge
- Compression tester
- Spark tester

These tools will help you to establish the most important duties a vehicle must perform in order to start. Fuel pressure, Compression and spark are the essential basics for an internal combustion engine to operate. Consult a qualified auto repair technician or the manufacturer for proper testing procedures.

The automobile starts, then dies? Many times on the newer vehicles, this condition will cause a check engine light, but is subject to the problem. No starts can have tail tale signs from the vehicles computer and may be intermittent. Usually a no start problem is due to an ignition component failure (crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, ignition module etc.). When diagnosing a vehicle that starts and then dies, make sure you harness the proper equipment for the job. Warning, Improper diagnosing techniques may result in damage to your cars computer. Use caution when attempting any form of vehicle auto repair troubleshooting.

Does the vehicle run, but has no power and a check engine light? Again remember the basics; fuel pressure, compression and spark the essentials to make your auto operate. These three parameters must first be examined to diagnose a drive ability or “check engine light” problem. Scan your vehicles computer for the check engine indicator light, which will get you to the circuit failure. The rest depends on what you have learned and or how much knowledge your auto repair consultant has.

In this article I have briefly examined some basic auto repair troubleshooting.

Finding quality auto repair may not be easy, but do “qualified, affordable auto technicians” exist? I am here to briefly clarify this subject, considering rip-off shops seam to be many. These places are hiring lube techs, not highly trained and skilled technicians, why? Because it is cheaper all you need is one guy to be master certified, I call it, “damage control”. Hire one tech., so when the lubbers create a wound, master tech. sews it up. Anything job becoming too complicated gets farmed out. Read on.

The automotive industry has become a very technical field. There was a day when everybody knew a mechanic. Day after day I would hear, for example, “my brother in law is a mechanic, my dad works on cars”. The days of the dumb mechanic are over. A technician is now needed to repair or service your car; therefore I will examine a couple of attributes any automotive repair facility should harness.

-Free Professional Advice, if the shops informative “beats around the bush”, or never gives a strait answer, he does not know the business, or he is trying to rip you off. Auto Technicians, should know your car inside and out, making it easy to repair your car at a fair price.

-Clean Shop, a good auto repair garage, should be clean and neat. How do you find the correct bolt in a mess? Did one fall in the engine? Many more problems can occur in a dirty shop, plus the mechanics image, should explain his work habits. Why higher a grease monkey? He will destroy your car and your wallet.

In order to find affordable auto repair, from someone qualified, please take your time and be patient. Finding a good repair shop is like “having a good doctor”, surgery is the last resort. Usually you can nurse them back to health. This article briefly examines a few retain-able theories, when choosing an affordable and qualified automotive repair shop.

Many people never notice their transmission until it begins to give them trouble. Often, people do not even know what a transmission is until they have to take their car to an auto repair shop and then they’re surprised when they need transmission repair. When you have a car, you should have at least a little bit of an understand of its parts. That way you can handle problems as they arise and save yourself money and grief.

The transmission is what sends power from the engine to your wheels. Every automobile has a certain Revolutions Per Minute or RPM that it runs best at and the transmission makes sure that the wheels stay within that range. Transmissions have different gears, high and low, that change how fast the engine and the wheels move. There is also reverse and neutral. In park, a lock slides into a shaft and keeps the wheels from rolling.

Many components make up a transmission. Some new transmissions have over 300 parts and that leaves a lot of room for something to go wrong. There are planetary gear sets, which are mechanical systems that let you move your car forward or backwards. A hydraulic system is what uses transmission fluid that is kept under pressure by the oil pump.

The pump pushes the fluid through the valve body into the clutches and bands, which control the gear sets. There are also gaskets and seals in a transmission that keep the oil from leaking out. Torque converters act like clutches and are let you stop your car while keeping your engine running. There is also a governor and throttle cable or modulator.

These parts keep track of your speed and the position of the throttle, and then decide when to shift gears. Newer cars have this controlled by a computer. Some problems are easy to spot before they get worse. If there is a persistent leak of red oil and you know it’s coming from your car, you should stop at your mechanic.

Simply tell your mechanic that you have red oil leaking from your transmission or your power steering system. If it’s just a few drops, it can easily be fixed and you can postpone transmission repair if you check fluid levels often. Remember that a transmission should shift smoothly and quietly, so if you hear noises or the shifting is erratic, have it checked. Whining noises in your floorboards is a definite transmission repair job for the auto repair shop.

When you take your car in, it can be hard to tell them what is wrong. For example, if you are hearing a whining coming from under your floorboards, you could hop online and do a few minutes of research to find out what could cause that. Then you tell your mechanic you suspect your transmission may be the cause. If you don’t have the time, you could simply tell your mechanic that as you were driving you began to hear a whining sound.

Mention that it’s coming from the floorboards and sounds like a herd of mosquitoes, or anything else that might help. If your car is giving you a hard time when you try to shift gears, explain the problem as best you can. Make a mental note of the speed you were going and whether you were idling or not. Whether it felt that the gears jumped or jerked could be valuable information to help your mechanic get to the root of the problem.

Do you know that you could save hundreds of dollars every year if you maintain your car or truck regularly? Some of the periodical maintenance and repair jobs that you have to have done when you take your car for a scheduled auto repair session include transmission repairs, complete check of the brakes and tuning up the engine so that it delivers the best mileage for you. If your car repair job is done in a haphazard manner, all the systems in the car will not deliver the best performance, leading to higher fuel costs or a compromise on safety.

Car repair is a complex job as the automobiles that are on the road today have a lot of electronic controllers in them. These controllers are there to assist the repair technician in case there is a problem with the car. Now the issue is that these electronic devices are extremely sensitive and let out information only when they are connected to a computer with specialized automotive software. They also immobilize the car or truck if you try to tamper with them. What this means is that you should leave the car and truck repair jobs to expert mechanics in the auto repair business.

Hagin’s Automotive in Martinez, California wants to be the “Dealer Alternative” for all of your vehicle’s service needs.
