Style is part of the motorcycle equation for every rider. It comes up every time you buy a new bike or jacket, accessorize, study your reflection in a plate glass window, and when you pull into a crowd that scrutinizes every move you make. All this makes you think about the style you have or wish to create.

Maybe you just want to look cool. But you can get philosophical about it and make your style exhibit you – if you know who you are. What image do you want to project as a biker? What do you want to tell people about you? Style development begins with the bike you choose to ride. Most bikes will fall into one of the styles below, and your style will emerge from there. The bike and the style it inspires go together. You can change your style too. Cross over to another bike. But that can get costly. BMW overheating problem. The BMW 3 series E36 model is known for an intermittent overheating problem. It seems to affect the 316 4 cylinder models around the years of 1996 to 1999. This three series model had problems with original water pumps and head gaskets that were not made of the same material as some of the other gaskets made by BMW.

If you find that your BMW starts to overheat and the water pump starts to sound a bit noisy then what might have happened is the plastic impeller that the original water pumps were made of may have snapped. This means although the pump is spinning it may not actually be pumping any water through the system. If your pump sounds noisy and your temperature gauge seems to be going into the red then get this pump changed as your first precaution. The modified pumps should have metal impellers to solve the problem. If the engine still seems to be overheating and the heater seems to be blowing cold air out check the thermostat is opening properly and the system is clear of any blockages. Whenever you run into a vintage motorcycle at a show or museum, do you daydream what it would be like to be one of those hardy bikers back in the day? You would be concerned about kick starting “Betty”, and making it to and actually back from a trip. Just think – grabbing a handful of non-mesh gears, slapping that cable clutch and working that collection of bolts up to top cog and holding on for a ride out there on the edge. Our biking forefathers really loved their machines to put up with all of that and find the fun and excitement that has spurred on the industry to what it is today.

I have always stood there in front of those 2-wheeled time machines and wondered what it would be like to not just own a vintage motorcycle, but to actually ride one full-time. Not just to a show or something, but to experience what it would be like to ride and maintain one of these historic motorbikes on a daily basis. Continue reading ‘A "re-cycle" experience’ »

What if you took two companies that had contrasting, unique strengths with cars and put them together to build a car emphasizing both of their traits? Well, that’s exactly what happened in the 1970s when BMW and Lamborghini got together to build a legendary car – the BMW M1.

The BMW M1 was a car built in a soap opera environment of sorts. The problem wasn’t BMW, but Lamborghini. BMW had retained the Italian exotic sports car company to design the M1. Alas, Lamborghini was having major financial problems at the time and ended up going bankrupt half way through the project. BMW was thus forced to take the car back and complete the project on its own.

Cadillac releases the 2009 Escalade Hybrid offering drivers both luxury and performance, without the sacrifice of fuel efficiency. Many hybrid SUVs are built with a slightly smaller body than the regular models, but the Escalade Hybrid maintains its full size without compromising its performance. The new Cadillac Escalade Hybrid will keep all the power of the regular Escalade, built with a 332 hp V8 engine, which has enough power to tow 5800 pounds in rear wheel drive; or 5600 pounds in four wheel drive.

This powerful beast has the estimated city driver getting around 20 miles per gallon, in which Cadillac boasts is more than comparable with the mileage on other smaller model vehicles, such as the 2008 BMW X3 or the 2008 Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
