Ford has placed the 2008 Edge Crossover squarely in the middle of its competition. This Front-wheel-drive CUV beats them in several key categories, including price, available torque from the award winning 3.5 liter V-6 power plant, and second row leg room, with more than an inch over the nearest competitor. All of this, plus the option of Ford’s driver’s door keyless entry pad for ease of entry.

Ford began with a bold design and flexibility in mind to blend energetic performance with sedan like handling. This forward thinking has landed the Edge the “Most Appealing Midsized Multi-Activity Vehicle” in J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) study. All the talk about Saab being sold or discontinued loses site of one thing: the automaker is still a viable, albeit small player in the world of fine European automobiles.

A case in point is the all new 9-3X Crossover, a vehicle which adds a positive light to the brand\’s popular 9-3 franchise. Along with a convertible, sedan and a wagon, the 2010 Saab 9-3X Crossover completes the 9-3 line, giving Saab the right mix of vehicles in a bid to compete effectually in the tough premium small vehicle segment.

According to General Motors, the 9-3X features Saab\’s respected Cross Wheel Drive (XWD) system. The XWD made its debut in the Turbo X limited edition model last year and will be combined with the fuel-efficient 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. The 9-3X represents Saab’s “EcoPower” technology school of thought, which aims at uniting an energizing driving experience with an efficient use of resources to accomplish trustworthy performance. Crossover vehicles are among one of the hottest car trends that is rapidly sweeping the automobile world today. However, most people who purchase these vehicles aren’t even aware of what the “crossover” really means. They appeal to a multitude of buyers who want benefits of both SUVs and cars, hence the word “crossover”.

These vehicles differ from usual sport utility vehicles in that they have completely independent suspension, which gives them a better handling and a smoother driving when on the road. They are perfect for those who have no need for heavy cargo, or drive on rough terrain, as they are not really designed for driving off-road.
