We all know the potential damage caused by leaving a vehicle outside in all weathers. Would you leave your car out on the street when you can put it safely in the garage? For some reason cars seem to get special attention though, whereas taking care of caravans often gets forgotten about. Yet caravans are just as susceptible to damage as cars, and so need an equal amount of care and attention; failure to do so just means paying more for repairs and earning less when it comes to selling it.

Even finding somewhere to store your caravan during the winter months is not sufficient though, as the rain that falls in April contains the same acids as the rain that falls in December. Leave that rain water to build up on your caravan for too long and the deterioration soon starts, along with a probable development of sludge and green algae on the roof. The latest thing in home improvement these days seem to be many families taking traditional indoor activities and moving them outdoors. One example of this is the growing popularity of outdoor kitchens. More and more people are adding outdoor living spaces to their homes and outdoor kitchens have become the most popular addition by far.

Campers and RV enthusiasts have known about this for years. If you have ever cooked over an open fire then you know that food just seems to taste better when prepared and eaten outdoors. There is nothing better than the smell of eggs and bacon and hot coffee in the early morning. As a former Boy Scout, it was even better when a few ashes got in the food. I’m just saying. However, many have never experienced the joy of preparing and eating an outdoor feast with or with out the ashes of an open fire. Continue reading ‘The Latest Thing: Outdoor Kitchens’ »

RV camping is by far the most relaxing, luxurious forms of camping out there. You are able to experience the solitude of nature while still having warm running water, a comfortable bed to sleep in, and a working, flushable toilet. If you have not ever tried RV camping, I strongly recommend renting an RV for a weekend to discover the fun and joys that come with camping in an RV.

If you are on the hunt for a family vacation for this summer that is both affordable and fun you should definitely look into RV camping. Even if you do not think of yourself, or your family, as very outdoorsy it is easier than you think to plan and carry out a camping trip. Renting an RV for your camping trip gives you a full kitchen, air conditioning, plenty of sleeping room, and a place to get out of the elements. It is a simple process; all you have to do is choose the dates of your vacation and what city you wish to pick up and drop off your RV in. Continue reading ‘Summertime is for RV Camping!’ »

Everyone who owns a vehicle and is a responsible person realizes that an insurance policy is a necessity and also required by law. Many insurance companies advertise on TV. How do you know how to choose a car insurance company? Out of all the ads you’ve seen on TV, has one particular company caught your attention? If so, contact them and speak to one of their agents. Ask if they have an insurance plan more specific to your needs. Make sure you have all the information in front of you that you will need. Once you receive the quote from the agent, say thank you for your time and information but you are still awaiting quotes from a couple of other companies.

One way to choose car insurance is not be in a rush. Shop around some and don’t jump at the first proposal they offer you. Remember that all insurance companies are in competition, and all want your business so don’t hurry about making your decision! One of those companies just might surprise you and give you a reduced rate compared to your initial quote. Continue reading ‘Ways to Choose Car Insurance’ »

Today I got back from a much needed trip.

We were celebrating my girlfriends graduation from college, so we decided to go to Vegas and get away for a couple days. When we got there I was surprised by the amount of people that were there vacationing. The lobby of our hotel was filled with 8 check-in lines, ten guest deep each. I asked the front desk if these guest were checking in or out ( not that it mattered)? You see the reason I say it doesn’t matter is because, regardless it was good news. It just went to show, that even though our economy is currently down people aren’t going to stop enjoying life.

I think you have a decision. You are either part of the recession or you are going to tell your self that you are not going to take part in it. What I mean by this is, you can sit and wait for things to get better or you can go out there and get it yourself. All of those people in Vegas said ” forget the recession I am going to go and enjoy my life”. The thing I realized was, you don’t have to spend a ton of money to have a good time. Whether you’re going cross country or just away for the weekend, packing the car for a trip can be stressful and time consuming, especially if you have kids or you’re packing an RV, also. But, with a little bit of planning and packing the night before you’re guaranteed to be more prepared and a little less stressed when it is time to leave. Before you begin packing, though, take everything out of your vehicle. This is a great time to clean it out to allow more space for the trip and make sure everything is in good shape, like the spare tire!

Packing the car, or RV, the night before a big trip accomplishes several things. First, it allows you to pack at a leisurely pace so you are not rushed and panicked, leaving you stressed out just before you get behind the wheel. You will be able to hop in your vehicle well rested and relaxed in the morning with your coffee in hand, more able to enjoy the journey, and with more patience to keep the kids happy.
