Today I got back from a much needed trip.
We were celebrating my girlfriends graduation from college, so we decided to go to Vegas and get away for a couple days. When we got there I was surprised by the amount of people that were there vacationing. The lobby of our hotel was filled with 8 check-in lines, ten guest deep each. I asked the front desk if these guest were checking in or out ( not that it mattered)? You see the reason I say it doesn’t matter is because, regardless it was good news. It just went to show, that even though our economy is currently down people aren’t going to stop enjoying life.
I think you have a decision. You are either part of the recession or you are going to tell your self that you are not going to take part in it. What I mean by this is, you can sit and wait for things to get better or you can go out there and get it yourself. All of those people in Vegas said ” forget the recession I am going to go and enjoy my life”. The thing I realized was, you don’t have to spend a ton of money to have a good time. You can do something typical like going to a theme park but why not try something different? Try buying an RV and travel the country. Sure this will be an expensive investment but it will be one you could use over and over and over. If you do decide to buy an RV either for vacationing or for some other reason, it is important to know which RV is best for you. Here are some tips that will help you choose your perfect RV.
First of all you need to be sure what you need in an RV. Obviously you need to make sure it is with in your price range. You also need to decide if this is a vehicle you plan to use once or twice a year or something you plan to use weekly. Other factors to consider will be how big your family is, how much storage space you will need for the RV and will you use your own motor or a towable. It will help to put together a checklist of everything you need and look for in an RV. Continue reading ‘Buying the Perfect RV’ »

Full time RV living, is it right for you? Living life as a full time RVer is definitely one of the most liberating lifestyles there is. It is a life of freedom, bottomless choices, and full of the thrill of never knowing where tomorrow will take you. It is the freedom of traveling where you have always wanted to go and seeing the places you have always wanted to see. There is nothing like having the freedom of waking up in the morning and while having breakfast, deciding where you are going to go and what you are going to do. If you find a place that you want to spend a few weeks exploring, why not, your home is right there with you. When it is time to move on, you just start your motor and take off to a new adventure. However, you must know that it is a lifestyle choice and not just an extended vacation. You must make sure you are committed before selling your house and most of your belongings and taking to the road.
One important aspect that some beginning full time RVers forgets to take into account is the non-stop time you will be spending with your significant other and the considerably closer quarters that time will be spent in. Do you think you and your spouse can live together 24/7 in 240 square feet of space? Starting a life as full time Rvers means two adjustments you and your spouse will have to make. One of the first things to decide when buying a motorhome is whether you want a new or second hand vehicle. On the one hand, with a new vehicle you get the feeling of being the first to own it and the safety of a manufacturers limited warranty, on the other hand, a pre-owned model can often be picked up with big savings against list price just a year or so after manufacture.
Everyone’s different, but most first time buyers opt for a second hand motorhome as the financial investment is less – and it gives the chance to find out whether motorhoming suits you without being left out of pocket.
Another initial consideration is your budget. Think about what you would like to spend and also what you are willing to spend as a maximum, this gives you a price range to work within and means you’ll be less tempted to overspend. Sport utility and recreational vehicle owners are getting hit twice by higher crude oil prices; not only are they being hit by the higher operating costs to run these vehicles with the prices of gas, but also by it’s quickly depreciating value that are put on these vehicles.
All across the country, car and truck dealers are feeling the new reality as their beautiful, fully-loaded sport utility vehicles collect dust in their lots. The old proverb of, “can’t even give them away,” seems especially fitting, as Americans are now neglecting the low mileage SUV’s, and turning to the hybrids and higher fuel efficiency models instead.

Whether you’re going cross country or just away for the weekend, packing the car for a trip can be stressful and time consuming, especially if you have kids or you’re packing an RV, also. But, with a little bit of planning and packing the night before you’re guaranteed to be more prepared and a little less stressed when it is time to leave. Before you begin packing, though, take everything out of your vehicle.
