The answers are…yes..yes..yes..and yes!

With the Wrangler leading the pack on ridiculous pricing in the new and used markets it’s no wonder that there is so much “Buyer’s Shock”.

So what’s so special about Jeeps and the Jeep Wrangler especially? Wranglers are relatively uncomfortable, rough riding, cramped for space and bad on gas mileage. With those credentials who would want to waste their time and a boat load of money on these things?

The overused expression “It’s a Jeep thing…you wouldn’t understand!” does sum most of it up in a nutshell. However, many folks really WANT to understand this phenomenon, because these Jeep guys and gals riding around with smiles on their collective faces can’t help but raise curiosity among the uninitiated.

Sure, a lot of us have envisioned ourselves like John Wayne in the movie “Hatari” racing through the wilds of Africa in a beat up Jeep CJ6, or running the Baja 1000 full bore in a tricked out Wrangler racer. However, most Jeep owners use their rigs as everyday drivers and take them off roading, camping, hunting, fishing or exploring only occasionally.

The real draw to most of us Jeep owners is in the knowing that we have a rare type of vehicle (with a long heroic history) which can pull all sorts of duty from daily driver mild to off road warrior extreme whenever we are so inclined.

THAT is what puts a smile on our faces whenever we strap-in to our favorite rigs headed for the convenience store…or the wide open desert trails.

Is it worth the expensive price to drive this true American icon? Well, that’s a question only you can answer for yourself.

As for me and millions of other enthusiasts throughout the world…we think it’s definitely worth it!

A Jeep Wrangler is a compact 4×4 sports utility vehicle that debuted in 1987. The Jeep Wrangler succeeds the jeep of World War II and has become a true American icon. Jeeps are best known for being rugged off road military vehicles. The civilian jeep better known as the CJ was inspired by the military jeeps and became the predecessor of the Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep Wrangler was a vast improvement over the CJ. The new Jeep Wrangler design offered far more passenger comfort, a larger wheel base, less ground clearance and the signature square headlights. These new enhancements made for a vehicle that was versatile both off and on road, appealing to a diverse group of consumers.

Modeled after the CJ, the Wrangler preserved the live axels positioned in the front and rear of the vehicle. The Wrangler a vehicle with optimum power and a tough exterior appealed to a more diverse group of consumers. The Wrangler, an enjoyable vehicle had revised mechanics causing a reduction in off road performance. These alterations caused the outdoor off road advocates to dislike the Wranglers. The newly created Wrangler quickly became identified as the “Yuppie Jeep”. Once acknowledged for its versatility and adaptability, the outdoor and off road enthusiast began to accept the Wrangler.

In addition to the off road ruggedness and fun of the Wrangler, it is also a smart daily on road vehicle. The purchase price of the Jeep Wrangler is the lowest in comparison to the other 4×4 sports utility vehicles. The Jeep Wrangler has also been named as one of the best vehicles to hold its value. Not to mention, it also ranks in the top four for best resale value.

The Wrangler was designed and founded by AMC in 1987. After the unveiling of the Wrangler, AMC sold out to Chrysler, who then created the Jeep Division. The Wrangler was originally manufactured in Ontario Canada until the plant shut down in 1992. Manufacturing was then transferred to the Toledo Ohio plants where Wranglers are now generated from.

In 1997 Chrysler then redesigned the classic Wrangler adding additional features. The new features included a wider track width, lower center of gravity, higher ground clearance and anti-sway bars. The Wrangler held true to its original round headlight design but became more consumer friendly by become a better ride and added handling capabilities.

Trying to stay ahead of the market, Chrysler released yet another revised model of the Wrangler in 2007. The new design added features such as a four door model with longer body style and added passenger comfort. However, Chrysler reserved the two door shorter body style Wrangler for the outdoor off road fans. Appealing to a broader range of purchasers made the Wrangler even more popular than before.

Signifying rugged durable fun, the Wrangler has also embodied all aspects of a smart vehicle. Purchasers can rest assured that whether it is affordable fun or modern convenience, the Jeep Wrangler can offer both.
